DIY : My “Now you see me, now you don’t” jacket

More studs – I KNOW ! I swear I’ll stop studding everything I lay hands on soon, I have loads of other ideas and supplies just waiting to be used ! This is actually a DIY I did a while back and have been desperately waiting to show you. Generally speaking, the “small” details are the ones I love most in fashion, just like humour – I like it subtle. I don’t know if we could call this collar subtle but it’s definitely unexpected ! I have to admit it wasn’t 100% my idea, it was inspired by an image I saw on Pinterest. However it just goes to show that you can stud whatever you want wherever you want this season and you’ll be spot-on trendy. Don’t go studding your fingers like I did though – it H.U.R.T.S. Once again, I’m not going to show you how to stud, I know you can do it ! I do have a story to tell about that though… When I went to pick up the giant studs I used for this collar DIY, I was talking to the owner of the shop who told me about receiving a phone call from a guy who had studded his shoes… Apparently the unfolded studs were spiking out and his feet kept bleeding…! Duh ! So I guess some people don’t know that when you poke your stud through the fabric, you have to fold the spikes back down. And if you didn’t know that either – now you do ! Here’s a gif showing you the three steps of my studding. The large 2cm studs are traditional spike studs but the smaller ones are actually iron on – so easy to use ! Ta ta for now ! xx – – – – – –

DIY : Globetrotter bag

Recently I was offered the chance to do a DIY exclusively for the French crafts site www.alittlemercerie.com. Studs are the craze this season, but the people on this site are very crafty so I needed to find them a challenge… Here is what I came up with : A trendy, studded, leather bag for the globetrotters out there ! Let me know what you think ! TUTORIAL THIS WAY (in French but with easy-to-follow images) P.S. Don’t forget to turn the BLUE button in the sidebar PURPLE by clicking on it (it won’t redirect you). This will boost my chances in the French Golden Blog Awards ! Thank youuuu ! xx – – – – – –

DIY : Starstruck boots

If you’re following me behind the scenes (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), you will already know I was in Primark a couple of hours ago. What you don’t know is that I went to buy something in particular (although I came out with much more, as you do)… The facts are these : Back in June, I bought a beautiful pair of studded shoes from Zara. I love them to bits but unfortunately they’re definitely Summer boots and if I wear them under the London rain they’ll simply drown. I’ve been looking for a Winter version to take their place for a while now, and you have to agree, this season we’re spoilt for choice as far as studded boots are concerned. But – I’m not very good at making choices… So I decided to make my own (surprise, surprise) using hotfix star studs. In literally 15 minutes my boring black Primark boots became my favorite starstruck beauties. And all I had to do was follow the instructions (i.e. place star, cover up with coton tee and place iron on for a few seconds until stuck). Bonus : All together these boots cost me £20. Yihaa. ** – – – – – –

DIY : Studded leather clutch

As soon as I saw this faux leather clutch at H&M, I felt there was something missing : STUDS. Yes, what’s a leather clutch with no studs this season ? Naked ! So I bought it and DEALT WITH IT. Boom. Waddya think ? I used a mix of silver and gold coloured studs for a very 2012 effect and criss-crossed them in a chesterfield manor – I love the way the faux leather creased in diamond shapes to match. The feel is very Alexander Mcqueen, in fact it would have looked great with a skull in the middle of the studs ! xx – – – – – –

Shopping : Autumn wishlist #2

When the new collections began to poke their heads through the shop windows, I soon had a whole list of things that I would be looking to buy over the next season. Believe it or not, the list goes on. As more and more clothes, shoes, bags and accessories make their way into the stores, my Autumn wishlist seems to grow. I have been very good so far and have bought nothing but a turquoise Louche sweatshirt. However, I am preparing for a serious shopping sesh very soon to get myself over the end of holiday blues. Until then, here are some special bits and pieces I have placed in a wishful corner of my mind : Quand les nouvelles collections ont commencé à se montrer, je vous avais rapidement fait part de mes premiers coups de coeur. Voici une nouvelle sélection de produits qui font boom boom dans ma cage thoracique :   1 :Heart Stud Pump Alexander McQueen / 2:Studded Tassle Bag by Mulberry / 3 : Quilted trench by Moncler / 4 : Tee-shirt by Ralph Lauren / 5 : Brown leather boots by Stuart Weitzman / 6 : Silk scarf by Salvatore Ferragamo / 7 :Lingerie by  Jenny Packham / 8 : Eye Colour Quad by Tom Ford (love the glittery grey !) / 9 : Python blouse by MICHAEL Michael Kors / 10 : Orb Shoulder Bag by Vivienne Westwood As you can see, my selections are getting more and more wintery – must be the rain that has suddenly decided to pour all over the South of France. Bring on boots, cozy sweaters and snuggly scarves ! – – – – – –

Trendspotting : Studs / Les clous

Now this is an easy subject for a DIY fashion blog ! But you have to agree, studs seem to be screwed into everything (and anything?!) in the new collections shops are displaying. WHAT ?! No need to explain what a stud is, but maybe I can remind you where the trend comes from. Not that I was around at the time, but back in the 70’s when real punks were having a real good time, studs were a mark of rebellion, just as were pierings, tattoos and safety pins. Injecting pieces of metal into things that didn’t initially need to be double checked at the airport seemed to be the coolest thing to do back then and designers like Vivienne Westwood picked up on this punk look, introducing studs to the catwalk. These days, studs are often added to pair of cut-off jeans for a festival look but this year it looks like that’s just not enough.. ! Jackets, jeans, leggings, bags, hair accessories, sweaters, socks, shoes… I’ve seen all of these studded in the past couple of weeks. WHO ?! I don’t think I’d ever seen so many studs under the enourmous roof of Oxford Street Topshop, but they’re not the only ones studding everything they can lay their studders on. Miu Miu have some amazing pairs of studded sneakers on the go, never mind Louboutin’s numerous choice of spiky heels . Une petite sélection : 1 : Topshop 2 : Miu Miu 3 : Louboutin (of course !) 4 : Topshop 5 : Alexander Mcqueen 6 : Michael Michael Kors 7 : Topshop 8 : Louboutin 9 : Topshop 10 : Topshop 11 : Topshop WOULD I ?! This is a stupid question. Studs are THE easiest DIY in the WORRRRRLD. I’ll be making it extra special with some nice patterns and colours – watch out ! Below is my favorite studded item so far… Zara’s red studded boots !

This DIY was inspired by a studded bralet I saw in Topshop a few weeks ago. Unlike some, I don’t usually consider DIY to be a cheap way of getting designer-style clothes. I enjoy indulging in other people’s creations as much as I like to create and generally if I fall in love with an item, I don’t copy it, I buy it ! However, I do find it difficult buying highstreet wear I could easily make at home, especially when I already have all the tools. I bought this crop top from Asos at the beginning of Spring and already had the studs from a closing down haberdashery – I HAD to give it a whirl. Because the steps are so simple to follow, you don’t really need a tutorial. I decided to show you how I created my studded bralet with a gif – let me know what you think ! Reckon Madonna would wear it ? I’ll include it in an outfit when the weather permits ! xx – – – – – –
