Last minute Halloween inspiration : Dress like a celeb

I’ve been sharing tons of Halloween inspiration with you guys over on my Halloween page (here) and on my Halloween Pinterest board (here). There are so many Halloween DIYs out there for the creative that I felt I needed to offer something a little different, too – something for the less inspired ! Some people have such brilliant ideas at Halloween time and go all out putting together the most incredible costumes and spending hours on preparing their night out. Others however either lack means, ideas and time… So here’s one for you, busy bees ! Dressing up as a celeb can be tricky but if you get right you’ll get people coming over to you guessing who you are, having photos taken with you and generally complimenting your choice of costume (and that’s what we like, right ?!). There are two golden rules when dressing up like a famous person : 1 / Create a caricature…  People will recognize you straight away as the person you are trying to be. If you wanted to be a Spice Girl, you’d have to go for a Union Jack dress or ridiculous platform shoes, if you wanted to be Audrey Hepburn, you’d need the bun and the cigarette holder… See what I mean ? Think cliché, think simple, think OBVIOUS ! 2/ …But don’t forget the details ! The more you put into your outfit, the more you’ll get out of it – simple ! So once you have the general look, think of the smaller things like accessories or what to do or what to say to bring your lookalike costume to life ! Here are three DIY inspiration boards I have put together to help you dress like 2012 pop-star Carly Rae Jepsen, poor harassed Kate Middleton or the outrageous Lady Gaga. You should be able to whip these outfits together in seconds and shouldn’t have to go further than your local charity shop to get those extra bits and bobs. Remember to act the part too – it’s all part of the fun ! Happy Halloween !         Who else would be good for Halloween costume inspiration ? Lookbook : Late for school again

I’m approximately 10 years late on the “back to school” post and yet this bag has been waiting to be used since the end of Summer sales (call me Miss Impulse-Purchase). When I saw it again this morning, sitting there quietly in a corner of my room, I gave in… and then realised that this post is actually representative of my many years at schoool : I was always late. Leather jacket : Stradivarius Lace top : Kookaï Trousers : No sé, they’re old ! Ballets : Les Tropéziennes Bag : Kling Necklace : Primark xx – – – – – –

Lookbook : What’s better than a furry hood ?

Hoods…..♥ Where to start ? Out of all the clothes in all the world and all their parts and details, hoods are my number one faaaaavorite thing. I have been wearing hoodies forEVER : as a child, as a teenager and as a woman. I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of hoods, they’re my confort wear, my armor. I also think they look cool – especially with extra fluff on the edge ! What could be better than a furry hood ? A furry hood with a bobble hat underneath ! Jacket : GAP Bobble hat : H&M Shirt : Zara Jeans : Primark Boots : ASH Bag : Cheap Monday xx – – – – – –

Lookbook : Dennis the menace

After having told you about my Do It Kits, I can finally introduce my favorite Do It Kit creation in an outfit ! That would be the studded leather collar – I love the rock and roll take on the peter pan collar, a mix of naughty and nice. As Dennis helped me dress this morning, I figured he should be in at least one photo, I’m sure you’ll agree he’s a good poser 😉 Don’t forget you can win a kit to make your own studded collar – more info here ! – Dress, bag & tights : H&M – Jacket : Hobs (vintage – one of my favorite items in my wardrobe ♥) – DIY Studded peter pan collar : Do It Kit, available HERE – Shoes & bracelet : New Look (similar bracelets here) Like the look ? That’s reason enough to vote for my blog in the French Golden Blog Awards ! I know I keep going on about it but I’m passionate, there’s nothing I can do about it ! It would mean a lot to me if you would give a vote here and there. Thank you ! xx – – – – – – –

Lookbook : Generation dot com

You know how old people go on and on about how they used to “live without phones” and “find their way without satnavs” and “read books” and “write letters” (and send telegrams ?!) and “remember” and actually “turn up” instead of canceling by text ? Well sometimes I have to agree I do feel kinda stupid with my phone in my hand all day… Especially when I’m in the middle of a photo shoot and I forget because someone tweets me !   Jacket : H&M 2010 Sweater : Petit bateau Faux leather shorts : Zara Boots : Primark Bag : Bershka Twitter : https://twitter.com/aimeesblogs xx – – – – – –

Lookbook : A La Gare

I know this sounds very geeky-freaky, but I have a thing for trains. It’s my dark side. I love taking trains, I find it relaxing and love day dreaming whilst watching the landscapes fly by. I also love taking photos of train stations. Now that’s all out there, let me introduce you to La Gare. This fancy French restaurant used to be a train station. The entrance hall has now been turned into a luxurious bar and the platforms are covered in set tables. The food is delicious to say the least (my recommendation : truffle ravioli !), the service is impeccable and the general experience is simply special. Now is also a good time for me to introduce you to my new watch – a square faced design by Nick Munro, inspired by Japanese train stations and their impressive punctuality.
