So hats, scarves and gloves are a classic Xmas pressy, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring ! This year why not glitz up a set for your best mate ? It takes no time, looks incredibly pro and costs next to nothing ! To do it yourself, you will need : – Hat/scarf/gloves – Rhinestones in various shapes and colours – Jewelry glue Step 1 : Practice arranging your rhinestones without gluing them, to see which design you like best. I like to just play around with them, placing them one after the other and fitting smaller ones in the holes as I go. Try to get it as symmetrical as you can – this way the end result always looks good ! Step 2 : Take a piccy of your design, just in case it gets blown away or destroyed by a clumsy someone (like yourself !) Steps 3 & 4 : Follow the design on the picture you took or simply pick up the stones one by one and glue them back down with your jewelry glue. A drop will do. Press lightly on each stone to stick it down, making sure the glue doesn’t squidge out at the edges when you press down. If it does, have a tissue handy and quickly remove any extra glue. Pssssst – Make sure you don’t create two right/left hand gloves ! Glue the rhinestones on a different side of each glove. And there you have it ! A beautiful set to give away or even to treat your own little self with this Christmas 🙂 Hope you like it, if you do I’m sure others will too – give it a share ! Have a lovely week-end, xx – – – – – –DIY Christmas present idea : Rhinestone embellished scarf and gloves !

I can’t even remember where I heard about this technique but I know I forgot to use it until I saw it again on the Internet the other day when browsing through Pinterest. I tried it this morning and just had to share it with you straight away – it’s incredible ! I love having my nails polished, playing with colours and turning my finger tips into fashionable accessories, however I often find myself spending a few days with chipped polish because I can’t be bothered to remove it… NOT sexy ! It tends to take me ages to clean my nails the traditional way, especially since I usually paint on 3 coats of polish so that the colour is bold and long-lasting. But now… NOW… I’ll be changing colour every few days because it will only ever take me SECONDS to remove it ! And as a bonus, I’ll be saving money instead of using almost a whole pack of cotton wool each time… Here’s how ! Easy, right ?! So watch out for my ever-changing nails from now on ! Today I’m going for a crackled red on powder pink – Mister Monkey loves it 🙂 Think you’ll give it a try ?! xx – – – – – –Beauty : Remove your nail polish in seconds !
Finally it’s here, the DIY you’ve all been waiting for ! Yes, because when I spent hours on end making a shopping bag out of leather last week, you were all more inspired by my Topshop tights than by the project ! Haha, I suppose I do understand, they’re pretty awesome tights 😉 And so here’s how you can make your own at home. I’ve added a touch of zebra print to make the project even more snazzy – hope you like them ! What do you think ?! On a more tragic note, I didn’t manage to stay in the TOP 10 fashion blogs in the Golden Blog Awards ! Never mind, c’est la vie – it was great fun and to show you I’m still a happy lil gurl and THANK YOU for all your support (because I may not have won but I did get hundreds of votes !!!) here’s a funny gif ! Thanks again to every single one of you who voted for me, this competition has shown me how many of you like my blog and has inspired me to do my very best to make this place as good as my brain, hands, scissors, glue, camera, keyboard and Internet connection will allow me to ! Let’s start off the week with a Bridget Jones reference : every time I wear something particularly short, I get an image of Hugh Grant asking me if my skirt is “off sick”. Well yes, Mister Cleaver, my skirt was off sick this week-end. But my waxed cotton mini shorts weren’t. I love playing around with proportions like wearing an oversized sweater with itty bitty shorts and these Acne Pistol boots polished it all off perfectly. As a bonus the sun came to take part in the photoshoot and him and I had lots of fun standing on the village bench in Hartington (Derbyshire, UK). Sweater : Topshop, similar here Shorts : Zara Bracelet : homemade (just braid 3 lengths of scruffy cotton !) Boots : Acne Pistol boots from www.my-wardrobe.com By the way, today is the last day you can vote for my blog in the Golden Blog Awards ! I’m always shocked amazed surprised when I realise how much influence trends have on our tastes. However hard you try to stand out, you’re always part of one movement or another, always part of a trend or an anti-trend… I’ve told you before, but I’ll tell you again – I used to SWEAR I would never wear slim jeans… Ahem. How many people truly stay away from fashion and manage to create their own style ?! Not many people even particularly feel the need to wear something very unusual and unless your name is Gaga it’s better not to walk around wearing meat dresses anyway. Let’s face it, whatever our attempts to be “original”, we’re all fashion victims (that scene about cerulean blue in The Devil Wears Prada seems to come to mind…). Anyway, suicidal monologue aside, this topic came up because I would like to talk to you about my love-hate relationship with the new red. Burgundy, so to speak. In other words, that UGLY colour I’ve always loathed… and that I now crave on a daily basis. Now you see where I’m coming from. Someone up there, way up high, has decided that I would now love the dark-red / brown / can’t-quite-decide-if-it’s- purple-or-not colour that’s all over magazines, shop windows and celebs. And I seem to be at that someone’s mercy ! After all I suppose we should thank them for messing around with our minds, I mean, what would I do with the contents of my overflowing bank account otherwise ?! Ugh. I’m doomed. I’ve shown you my new hat already and I’ve told you I’m going to be making a burgundy tutu, now here’s a list of a few things I have seen in the shops or online. I love each one of these pieces and think about them very hard before I go to bed in the hope they’ll be there by my side when I wake up in the morning. No luck so far – but I bet Santa turns up in a burgundy suit this year ! Enjoy ! 1. Velvet boots : H&M // 2. Scarf : Asos PROMO // 3. Trousers : New Look // 4. Coat : Object Collectors Item // 5. Chucnky statement necklaces are the way to go this year, especially worn with a smart jacket or under a shirt collar. I think bright accessories are perfect for a business meeting, it gives a bit of femininity to a ‘working woman’s’ outfit without going over the top or looking too casual. This is more of an inspiration tutorial than an actual project – you can use the techniques used for this statement necklace to make your own original piece of jewelry without necessarily using the same shapes and colours as I have. I hope you like it ! Necklace : DIY above Tee-shirt : Mango Jacket : IKKS Jeans : IKKS Shoes : New Look Leather bag : DIY here WAIT ! Before you go, I have two last things to say… 1 / I found out last night that my blog is so far 8th in the French Golden Blog Awards – I can’t believe it ! Hoods…..♥ Where to start ? Out of all the clothes in all the world and all their parts and details, hoods are my number one faaaaavorite thing. I have been wearing hoodies forEVER : as a child, as a teenager and as a woman. I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of hoods, they’re my confort wear, my armor. I also think they look cool – especially with extra fluff on the edge ! What could be better than a furry hood ? A furry hood with a bobble hat underneath ! I always look at All Saints and IKKS necklaces and sigh… I love each and everyone of them but can hardly ever afford a £50 gimmick necklace. I have a robot one from IKKS that I adooooore (he’s called Jean-Robot), I’ll have to show you him one day but he’s missing a leg so I don’t take him out of his box so much these days 🙁 Skull beads seem to be a favorite this season and definitely match the grungy feel of the brands above. I didn’t think braided chains would make it through the Autumn but here I go again using this almost over DIYed technique. I used leather thread this time, to rock up the look, and added in a bead every now and then so that the skulls hang off the necklace. I love the result and know I’ll be wearing this often – a gothico-cute look perfect for Halloween or even all Winter through ! You will need the following supplies as well as a clasp and a couple of jump rings to attach it to the chain : Here’s a quick look at how I braided the chain and added in the beads but for a more detailed tutorial on braiding chain click here. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by ! xx – – – – – –DIY : Skull & chain necklace
