DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #12 by Vanessa

To avoid me forgetting again, the talented French bloger Vanessa from LesGamebettesSauvages.com DIYed today’s tee-shirt – isn’t it cool ?! She gave it the nickname Manchette Frangette which sorta means Fringy sleeves and added tiny fly sequins on the neck too ! Would you ever have guessed flies could look so cute ?! I’ll let Vanessa show you how she added these extra bits and bobs to this used-to-be-boring-but-is-now-freakin-cool white tee-shirt ! See the tutorial on Vanessa’s blog ! It’s in French but don’t worry, you’ll get the idea from the pictures if you don’t understand the words. A massive THANK YOU to Vanessa for this fabulous DIY idea and simply for taking part in 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS – her contribution makes it all more fun ! Just like Margot’s tee-shirt a few days ago, I had no idea what I was going to see when I opened the pictures, but I knew I’d love it ! These gals are full of talent <3

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #11 with lace

Oh my GOOOOOODNESS ! Today I was soooo close to messing up the whole challenge ! I should have called this “The DIY tee-shirt I nearly forgot to post”… Oh, I would have been devastated if I had failed out of pure forgetfulness ! I’m just too carried away with this whole long week-end thing… M. Marcel and I are in a post-payday mood and spent the afternoon picking out paints and dyes for some flat refurbishing we’re going to be doing – can’t wait to show you ! There’s “Mustard” yellow, “Camomille”, “Summer coulis” (a beautiful raspberry colour !), “Hot pants” pink (which is actually a very vintage rose) and “Bowling” green… And we just might have stuffed some magnetic blackboard chalk in the basket too… Yes, MAGNETIC BLACK BOARD PAINT ! Fun times ahead ! Anyway, let’s get back to why we’re here or I’ll be forgetting all over again ! Here is a cute tutorial I prepared yesterday (partly explaining my forgetting it seeing as so far I have been doing each tee-shirt on the actual day I post it). Out of 30 tee-shirts, there had to be at least one with black lace ! I fell for the monochronic trend again (see last b&w tee here), there’s so much of it about at the moment I’m inevitably attracted to the clean contrast. And, just like tee-shirt number 9, this is a bit of a crop top – but you make it a little longer if you like. The lace box part was inspired by this video which I saw almost a year ago and thought was most impressive. However I’m not so into lace with nothing underneath it (espacially in this weather !!) so I thought I’d stitch it to a little top made from a plain white tee-shirt. All there is to it is a bit of measuring, a bit of snipping and a couple of stitches. EASY ! Have fun !Pssst – This lace box top will feature in the outtakes I’ll be posting very soon – can you guess what went wrong ?!Hope you like it ! I’ll be back tomorrow with more… If I don’t forget ^^ xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #10 with iron-on studs

Number TEN ! And it’s sunny enough to wear it all day long ! Yippee !!! The story of this tee-shirt is quite funny and I’m afraid I can’t wait to tell you about it when I reveal all the other outtakes I’ve promised you… You see I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do with these iron-on studs and so spent a long time placing tiny weeny studs on the sleeves of this tee-shirt, in a very organised and regular fashion. I’m not kidding, it took me and my tweasers AGES to get it just right, and it was looking good. Whilst studding away on the floor (somehow I tend to spend a lot of time working like that) I teased myself thinking of all the horrible things that could happen now I was nearly done… Sneezing, crazy dogs, boyfriends big feet… They all went through my mind but luckily everything was going according to plan. Until… I suddenly realised I wasn’t going to be able to iron on the studs on the carpet. I already tried that once and it had melted the rug…! I decided to place a piece of cardboard under the sleeves when… Yep. I bashed my work and the studs scattered all over the place. I’m not going to lie, I screamed. A very loud, painful scream. But then I realised something… A scientific mistake had lead me to a wonderful discovery… Scattered studs ! It looked fab ! So here we have it, a project that will take you MUCH less time than it did me and a brand new trendy tee-shirt ! Enjoy ! I’m so pleased with the result and because the weather is looking so much better I made a little happy gif with the tee, a big smile and some sunnies I found on the ground at a concert last year haha Have a wonderful Easter Weekend, more DIY tee-shirts coming soon ! xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #9 with a hologram print

Well, it’s that time of year again… Crop top time ! Crop tops are so fashionable and easily DIYable that it’s hard to spend Spring / Summer avoiding them on Clones ‘n’ Clowns… Last year I showed you how to make this one, this one and this one and this year I’ve added a hologram touch for some extra special 2013ness. Had I guessed I would be exposing half of my body to the whole wide web I’m not sure I would ever have started this blog… But then again I suppose it’s all part of the fun ! Life starts just outside your comfort zone, right ?! So get your crop tops out and flash that flesh ! Here’s how to cut a basic men’s tee into a croppy and then add a HOLO-GRAPHIC print ! I think this sparkly iron-on print is amazing ! It looks beautiful in the light and is the perfect material for graphic prints that are easy to design but look super trendy. Again this tee-shirt looks like something you might buy in Urban Outfitters, doesn’t it ?! Just like this one ! But the difference is, I MADE IT MYSELF ! Are you going to make it too ?! Take care and come back soon ! xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #8 BY MARGOT

Already one full week of tee-shirt DIYs, how exciting ! So far everything is going according to plan, although as I said here I do have a growing album of outtakes I need to show you very soon… Today is a (very) special day because we have a guest to do DIY number 8… That guest is no other than the trendy French fashion blogger Margot from Youmakefashion.com. Margot decided to turn a basic men’s tee into a monochrome baseball top – such a fab DIY, there’s no doubt where she gets her blog name from ! Of course I knew this talented DIYer’s tutorial would be great, I trusted her with my eyes closed so that I would only see the tee-shirt at the same time as you ! I think it’s a great contribution to the challenge, a DIY the way I like ’em : easy to do, quick to do and TRENDY ! Thanks Margot ! See the step by step tutorial on Margot’s blog – don’t worry it’s in French but the photos are easy to follow ! Whilst you’re at it, take a look at her DIY fringed perfecto… It’s absolutely gorgeous ! OK well I’ll leave you to it ! Do come back later on in the day though, I’ll be posting some photos that have NOTHING to do with tee-shirts haha ! I’ve been dreaming of white tee-shirts for 10 days now, I thought it was time for something a little different around here too ! Laters ! xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #7 with chains

Hey ya ! Time for something easy, waddya say ?! I was in a bead shop yesterday when I came across these spikey beads… BOOM – I knew what I was doing to today’s tee-shirt ! I sought out some colourful aliminium (lightweight) chains and I was set for day number 7 🙂 Sometimes all you need is a second of inspiration and you’ve got yourself a whole new project. I think the result is super trendy, it makes me think of something you would find in Topshop or Urban Outfitters – apart from it cost under £10 and took less than 30min to make ! Quicker and almost cheaper than even going into town !   Hope you like it ! It kind of reminds me of my punky days but then it’s not too OTT meaning I can still wear it these days without feeling like I’m dressed like Avril Lavigne ! I think I’ll definitely be wearing it with a cute skirt and ankle boots  – it’ll most likely be one of my fav’s when festival season rolls on ! Which DIY tee-shirt is your favorite so far ?! Are you going to try AT LEAST ONE at home  ?! xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #6 Make a tee-shirt into a dress

So I’ve been hesitating for a while about this DIY… Does it count as a tee-shirt if I transform it into a dress ?! I decided it counts… I hope you agree ?! I just think it’s such a cute idea to turn a random, ugly tee-shirt you would probably never wear (unless running or sleeping) into a pretty Summer’s dress ! Of course you must chose your skirt fabric carefully, this is how you “dress up” the tee-shirt. I chose a beautiful silk cloth with mint hexagons and black dots – unusual enough to make this dress really special ! I would say this DIY is slightly more complicated than the others I have been posting over the past few days, but you can definitely give it a go if you’re comfortable with a needle and / or sewing machine ! Go for it ! Here’s the step by step – – – > EASY EXPLANATION : Basically you’re creating one massive skirt that you will then want to hem on one side and ruffle on the other. To ruffle, just use a piece of cotton that is the same length as your tee-shirt all the way round (which is why I suggested tee-shirt width x 2). This way, you’re making your ruffled skirt the same size as your tee. All you have to do after that is sew the skirt onto the tee-shirt (right sides together) and there you have it ! Tadaaa !!! I like to roll the sleeves up to finish the feminin look, you could stich them in place if you like too. Cute, isn’t it ?! 😉 I hope you like it ! So many of you have been visiting Clones ‘n’ Clowns over the past few days, I’m so excited you’re enjoying the challenge ! I feel so enthused by it all and have more and more ideas each day – inspiration seems never ending ! Maybe I should have launched a 365 DAYS 365 TEE-SHIRTS challenge ?! But then again, maybe not 😉 haha… See you tomorrow ! xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #5 with a graphic leather panel

Hello again ! Hope you’ve all had a crafty week-end ?! What have you been making ?! I spent a decent amount of time creating this DIY tee-shirt for day number 5, but that’s OK because I’m really pleased with the result ! This is probably the trendiest DIY tee-shirt yet on the blog, it’s so 2013 with the graphic design and the black and white contrast. And guess what ? It’s SUPER EASY to do yourself. All you need is a little patience and a sharp scalpel – feel free to use a ruler if it helps you get the lines straight. Here’s the tutorial, hope you like it ! I’ll definitely be rockin’ this all Summer ! Leather is definitely on trend and there are so many things we can make with it ! I’ll get some other tutorials online over the next few months, I promise ! This is actually a lot like another project I worked on earlier in the year, one that will be published in my upcoming book… 😉 Well all in on all this challenge is on a roll ! Although I have to admit I have a few outtakes to show you already haha. More on that very soon. But don’t stop me now, I have a great idea for tomorrow’s DIY ! See you then 🙂 xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #4 with a bow on its back

An easy DIY for an easy week-end, this little top is ideal if you like no sew projects ! I love stripy bows, the lines go all wonky and it gives the fabric a new dimension. It’s super trendy this summer too ! However I’m starting to doubt we’ll ever get the chance to show all these pretty tee’s off, it’s snowing outside ! Maybe I should have done a DIY challenge called something like “Let’s recycle our sweaters we’re going to need them all over again”… Hmm. Maybe you’ll wear this to the gym ?! 😉 See you tomorrow for fantastic tee-shirt #5 ! xx

DIY 30 DAYS 30 TEE-SHIRTS : #3 Scarf sleeves

So the difficulties begin… For the first time today, on day 3, I wondered if I was going to manage to get a tee-shirt tutorial online. Yep, this 30 days 30 tee-shirts thing is definitely going to be a challenge ! It’s a good job I’m determined 😉 After fighting with my sewing machine and doing one million other things I had to do today, here it is – a tee-shirt with sleeves made from a vintage style silk scarf… I like it 🙂 Do you ?! Remember if you want to discuss this project or the DIY challenge, let’s chat on Twitter, you can use the official hashtag #30D30TS ! Thanks for passing  by ! xx
